.NET using ASP

This course provides instruction in building web sites using Microsoft ASP.NET. Participants will learn how to create dynamic, flexible, and interactive web pages as well as develop an individual website. A heavily hands-on course for application developers who have taken one of the .NET programming courses (either VB or C#) and who have at least conceptual knowledge of the web, and ideally, some actual web page development experience.

Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Design a web site using Master and Content Pages, style sheets, and other tools, to provide a good and consistent user interface
  • Use most of the ASP.NET Server controls included in Visual Studio.NET, to create full-featured ASP.NET pages (Web Forms)
  • Write extensive Visual Basic.NET or C#.NET code to process input and output, including validating input and handling exceptions
  • Navigate efficiently from page to page, including building a login process
  • Understand and use the Cache, Application and Session objects, and Global.asax
  • Use COM and .NET components (DLLs), Web Services, and WCF Services
  • Display database data, suing DataSources and controls such as GridView; write code to query and update databases, using the ADO.NET Connection, Command, and DataReader classes
  • Use Ajax techniques to add functionality to a web site
  • Create Class Libraries, Web Services, and WCF Services. Know the purpose of LINQ (Language Integrated Query), WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) and WF (Windows Workflow Foundation)
  • Deploy the application to a production server. Create and use a configuration file

Who Should Attend:

Application Developers who have taken one of the .NET programming courses (either VB or C#), who have at least conceptual knowledge of the web, and who have some actual web page development experience.
