Online Courses:

  • Require self-motivation and some computer skills. To help you to determine if an online course is right for you, please visit: http://www.lcc.edu/elearning/students/about_online/quiz.aspx.
  • Are flexible. While assignments in a course may have due dates, course work can be completed any time of the day or night. This allows students to work around personal, work, and family schedules.
  • Are NOT self-paced. Course work must be completed by the deadlines set by the course instructor including discussions, quizzes, and additional assignments. For more information about managing your time in an online course, please visit: http://www.lcc.edu/elearning/students/about_online/managing.aspx.
  • May require a trip to campus. Some online courses may require a student to come to campus to complete an exam or give a presentation. Off Campus Proctors can be set up if necessary through the Assessment Center at: http://www.lcc.edu/assessment/. Additional fees may apply.
  • Have technology requirements. Online courses require a high speed Internet connection (dial up Internet users may experience delays), word processing program, and various computer hardware and software. To run a system check on your computer, please visit: https://d2l.lcc.edu/d2l/tools/system_check/systemcheck.asp?ou=6606.
  • May require textbooks. Many online courses still require a student to purchase a textbook to work from. This can take the place of lecture materials and should be used to study for quizzes and exams if necessary. Textbook information can be found at: http://www.lcc.edu/schedule/attending-class/books/.
