LCC Student Attends Entrepreneur Connect 2011
July 2, 2011
Lansing
Community College (LCC) student Chris Cooks recently attended the
inaugural
Entrepreneur Connect 2011 at the James B. Henry Center for
Executive Development in Lansing. Cooks is the Vice President of
Entrepreneurship for the
LCC chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA), as well
as a successful entrepreneur having already established three
different businesses. The conference, which was organized by the
Great Lakes Entrepreneur's Quest,
Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP, Inc.),
Michigan State University's Entrepreneurship Network (msuENet),
and the MSU
Broad College of
Business, was both a showcase and celebration of
entrepreneurship across Michigan.
Over two days, June 9th and 10th, students, alumni, service providers, mentors, stakeholders, community members, and entrepreneurs all came together to recognize the growth and success of Michigan's Entrepreneur Ecosystem.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of the $100,000 SmartZone Award to Syzygy Biotech Solutions, LLC, by Skip Simms, Senior Vice President of Ann Arbor Spark and Managing Director of the Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund program. In addition to attending a session on financial forecasting, Cooks was also able to hear other entrepreneurs share stories from their journeys and talk about their companies and the innovative products and services they are developing and providing. Most valuable of all though were the networking opportunities, which Cooks described as, "amazing and highly insightful into the struggles and rewards of entrepreneurship."
