Awareness, Training, and Incident Reporting
Information security incidents can come in many forms. Noticing a person carrying a computer under his arm down Seymour Avenue, finding a student record on the system changed, noticing that your computer disk drive is running all the time, or taking a phone call from a person that you think is pretending to be a student and getting personal information, are all possible information security Incidents. Understanding and reporting of security issues is vital for a safe information environment.
The Information Technology Services Division uses many different methods to discover security events. The methods include Intrusion Detection Systems, Firewall logging, Server logging, Vulnerability Management Consoles, and others. Detection of security incidents is a must to contain the costs of an incident to the college.
