Create a Link to a Video | Embed a Video

Films on Demand provides educational videos on a variety subjects that can be viewed on your computer and embedded in faculty Desire2Learn accounts. Access to Films on Demand is also available on the Research Databases webpage.

Create a Link to a Video

It is easier to link to films to Desire2Learn if you have two windows or tabs open.

In the first window/tab:

  1. Go to Films on Demand from the LCC Library Research Databases web page.
  2. Locate an interesting film you want to link to your Desire2Learn course.
  3. Click on the title of the film.
  4. Locate the Title URL below the video player and the title synopsis.
  5. Copy the complete Title URL that begins with https://envoy.lcc.edu

In the second window/tab:

  1. Log into Desire2Learn.
  2. Go to Lessons tab.
  3. Click on Add Content and click on Page.
  4. At the Create an Item section click on Link.
  5. Add a title and subtitle, then paste film URL from Films on Demand.
  6. Click on Save.

Embed a Video

It is easier to embed films in Desire2Learn if you have two windows or tabs open.

In the first window/tab:

  1. Go to the course where you want to embed the video.
  2. Click on Content.

In a second window/tab:

  1. From the LCC Library website go to the Research Databases page by clicking under Find Information or at http://fish.lcc.edu/search/y
  2. Click on the letter F under Browse Database Titles on the right.
  3. Films on Demand will appear in the list of results. Click on the Connect link to open it.
  4. Locate the film (or film segment) that you want to embed in your Desire2Learn course.
  5. Click on the title of the film.
  6. Click on the link Embed this Video below the video player.
  7. Copy the complete Embed Code displayed.

Return to your Desire2Learn course site in the first window/tab:

  1. Select the Module where you want to place the video and select New Topic.
  2. Then select Create New File.
  3. Select the Insert Stuff button from the HTML editor.
  1. On the Insert Stuff screen, select Enter Embed Code from the menu on the left.
  2. Then paste the copied Embed Code from Films on Demand into the Embed Code window..
  3. Click Next. On the next screen click on Insert.
  4. You can choose to either Preview or Save the topic. If you choose Save, you can then access it from the Manage Content or View Content.
