Manufacturing Engineering Technology Design
What is METD?
The Manufacturing Engineering Technology Design program is tailored to prepare students for a successful career in product design. Students in this curriculum will be trained on two CAD software systems where they will learn parametric solid modeling, assembly structures, drawing standards and design concepts.
What skills are required?
Strong math, communication and problem solving skills are needed.
Detailers and designers must have the ability to visualize 2 dimensional objects
in 3D. In addition, designers who obtain experience in manufacturing processes
understand cost effective designs and become valuable employees.
Where are they employed?
As a graduate of the METD program you can choose employment
opportunities from a variety of industries including automotive, aerospace,
defense, medical, agricultural and furniture. Graduates in the
Manufacturing Engineering Technology program also qualify for machining,
programming and manufacturing jobs.

The median hourly wage is $22.32 and the median yearly salary is $46,430 in 2010 according to O*NET.
