Lansing Community College to Host Delegation from Ireland

 

LANSING 11/14/11 – A group of Irish and Northern Irish political and higher education leaders will visit Lansing Community College (LCC) as part of a two-week educational exchange program through the Irish Institute at Boston College. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State.

They will meet with officials from the LCC Foundation and College to discuss philanthropy, fundraising, and community colleges on Thursday, November 17.

Among the guests are high level officials from the University of Ulster, Queen’s University , the National University of Ireland, Dublin Institute of Technology, and the Higher Education Authority of the Republic of Ireland.

“This is a tremendous honor for LCC to host a delegation of distinguished education and government officials from Ireland,” said Dan McKean, Executive Director of the Lansing Community College Foundation. “We look forward to sharing how our Foundation’s work supports the strategic mission of the college.”

The LCC Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization governed by a 27-member Board of Directors. Each year, the Foundation provides over $800,000 in scholarship support to LCC students.  Since the 2003-04 academic year, more than 6,100 scholarships valued at $6 million have been awarded.
