Lansing Community College Celebrates Black History Month
LANSING 1/30/12 – Lansing Community College is celebrating Black History Month with a variety of events that are open to the public. With the exception of the Soul food luncheons, all events are free. A complete list can also be found at http://www.lcc.edu/studentlife/whats_new/.
February 1 – Opening Ceremony - Dart Auditorium, 6 – 8 p.m.
Come join Lansing Community College for the kick-off of Black History Month 2012. The event will feature poetry readings, a keynote address, and local recording artists Ieesha On’trel, LaNette Hester and Onnette Mitchell.
Soul Food Luncheons – Every Tuesday in February, Kennedy Cafeteria (Arts and Sciences Building) 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Hip-Hop Poetry Sessions – Every Friday in February, February 3 and 24, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Herrmann Conference Sunroom; February 10 and 17 in Arts & Sciences, Room 375, Noon – 1 p.m.
February 7 – Jazz with Tia Imai Hanna – Dart Auditorium, 7:30 p.m.
February 8 - Health Fair - Gannon Building, 2nd Floor Lobby, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
An annual event highlighting disease prevention and health promotion. In addition to providing health education, the Health Fair will offer a variety of health screenings.
