LCC's Business and Community Institute Upcoming Training Events
LANSING 9/26/12 – Lansing Community College’s Business & Community Institute is offering a variety of professional education courses in the next several months, all open to the public. Registrants need not be enrolled at LCC to take the courses.
Among the courses being offered:
Project Management for IT Professionals – October 17 to November 14, Register by October 15, Cost: $1,850 (Capital Area IT Council members: $1,250). Location: LCC West Campus
This course is designed for project managers in the information technology industry and provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles of project management.
Making Mobile Easy for Healthcare Professionals – November 5 to January 31, Register by October 19, Cost: $199. Location: Online course
This introductory course for health care
professionals helps participants understand how mobile/wireless
technologies are being incorporated in the industry. This
is a self-paced, online course.
Improving Workplace Organization – November 7, Register by October 24, Cost: $250. Location: LCC West Campus
This course teaches the 5S system of organization, which is a system of sorting, straightening, shining, standardizing and sustaining that involves everyone in the organization, improving quality, delivery, morale, safety and the bottom line. This is the kick-off of the new Lean Bronze Certification Prep series. It is an 8-hour workshop.
StrengthsFinder 2.0 – November 8, Register by October 25, Cost: $250, Location: LCC West Campus
This 8-hour workshop helps participants identify their strengths and develop an action plan to capitalize on them. The focus is on developing existing talents into greater strengths.
Coming in January:
Cyber Security: Defending Critical Infrastructure
The seminar is a good starting point for those seeking a broad understanding of the challenges and skills needed to secure Internet-based and networked computer systems. It will cover cyber terminology, emerging rules and regulatory compliance requirements.
Understanding IT Governance
This two-day training session is designed to provide professionals with the information they need to effectively manage business processes and information systems, focusing on COSO, SOX, COBIT, ITIL, ISO 27002, IT BSC, PMBOK and Six Sigma.
