Early LCC Earns a 5 Star Rating by State of Michigan
LANSING 10/10/12 – The Early Learning Children’s Community Center
(Early LCC) on the campus of Lansing Community College has been named a 5
Star Program by Michigan’s Great Start to Quality initiative, distinguishing
Early LCC as meeting the highest standards for quality early childhood
programming in the State of Michigan.
Great Start to Quality is a
state-wide initiative designed to improve early childhood
development services and outcomes for Michigan’s families. The
rating system is tied to Michigan’s quality standards for early
learning programs, awarding quality stars from one to five, with
five being the highest quality.
Early LCC opened in August 2010
to provide high quality early education and child care for the
children of LCC students, staff, and the community. It is
operated by Gretchen’s House Child Care Centers of Ann Arbor in
coordination with LCC’s Child Development and Early Education
program. It serves as the lab school for students in the Child
Development and Early Education program, which has already
attained National Association for the Education of Young
Children (NAEYC) accreditation as an early childhood associate
degree program. Early LCC is also pursuing national
accreditation by the NAEYC.
