LCC to Host Third Annual Safety and Preparedness Fair

WHO:

Ingham County residents interested in becoming better prepared for emergencies.

WHAT:

The Safety and Preparedness Fair, held in celebration of National Preparedness Month, is designed to teach the community how to prepare for disasters and emergencies. The free event is sponsored by Lansing Community College’s (LCC) Emergency Management & Safety Services Department in partnership with several safety and preparedness organizations.

Activities include:

  • Preparedness information for families
  • NOAA weather radio giveaway
  • Family First Aid Kit giveaway
  • Family Preparedness Kit giveaway
  • Live Burn - Firefighters will put out fires while families watch
  • Kids games
  • Bounce house
  • Free popcorn and ice cream
  • Segway rides
  • Fire trucks, ambulance, police car, buses, and other emergency and large equipment vehicles for kids to explore

WHY:

National Preparedness Month is sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) each September, and is celebrated at events throughout the U.S. The goal is to share information that will enhance national security, resilience, and readiness.
