Lansing's Jen Sygit Wins Best Country Song!

Jen Sygit WLNZ’s own Jen Sygit has new bragging rights: she’s just been named the winner of the Asbury Park Award for Best Country Song. The song, “Sugar High” plays here on WLNZ (tune into the Local Lunch Hour Monday through Thursday at noon and you may catch it) and is featured in Michael McCallum’s new film, Buffalo. McCallum, who has paired with Sygit in the past (she did some of the scoring on McCallum’s film, Fairview St.), nominated Sygit for the award without her knowledge. Winning, then was a bit of a surprise. The award is presented by the Garden State Film Festival in New Jersey.

“Sugar High” is featured in McCallum’s yet-to-be released film, Buffalo, which tells the story of a man who steals a cab in order to visit his estranged son.Sygit is delighted with the honor, and WLNZ couldn’t be prouder to play her music and to feature her programming; her show Eclecticana airs Friday afternoons from 1-2 PM and Saturdays from 5-7PM. Congratulations, Jen!
