Christmas Eve & Christmas Day (Times to be determined)
What if Dr. Seuss had told the classic story of Scrooge?
Thanks to everyone who made it to Dart Auditorium for our 8th Annual Silver Bells in the City Radio Play. Once again WLNZ took listeners back in time to the “Golden Age of Radio” with a live, in-theatre presentation and broadcast from Dart Auditorium on the campus of Lansing Community College. Previous events have included “It’s a Wonderful Life”, “Scrooge”, “Miracle on 34th Street”, “Casablanca”, and “Meet Me in St. Louis”. This year, the station took on the original stage play “A Seussified Christmas Carol” by Peter Bloedel with radio adaptation by Daedalian Lowry. It’s the Charles Dickens’ classic tale of “A Christmas Carol” told in a humorous Dr. Seuss manor!
“A Seussified Christmas Carol” featured the staff and volunteers of LCC Radio alongside some of Mid-Michigan’s favorite media personalities.
This year’s lineup includes:
Evan Pinsonnault (WLNS-TV 6)
Jason Colthorp (WILX-TV 10)
Jack Robbins (89.7-WLNZ)
Kristi Love (99.1-WFMK)
Chris Tyler (100.7-WITL)
"A Seussified Christmas Carol" produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

years back, a national music education/preservation group approached
WLNZ about helping them promote and coordinate a weekly event that
brings together musicians of all ages and different skill levels to
create music and learn from each other at the same time; the event was
called Pckin' in the Park. 89.7 was happy to help out with the initial
on-air promotions, hosting, and coordinating during the early days.
Since that time, Pickin' in the Park has taken on a life of its own --
which was exactly what it was supposed to do!
Pickin' in the Park still takes place in Old Town every Tuesday from 6-9 pm. During the summer months, you can follow the music to any one of Old Town's three parks (generally Burchard Park). During the colder months, the gang usually migrates to Sir Pizza Grand Café located at 201 E. Grand River Ave.
Instruments of all types are welcome. Each session is a spontaneous and fun experience covering all sorts of music from bluegrass, blues, classic rock, contemporary, country, to folk. Whether you're just getting started or a seasoned musician, make it a point to be a part of this great experience in Lansing.
