Student Leadership Academy

Membership

  • Twenty-three or fewer first year academy members selected by a committee including current or former academy members

  • Twenty-three or fewer second year academy students

Qualifications

  • Must be a new student

  • Must have a 2.5 G.P.A. or higher

  • In good standing (i.e. not on academic or social probation)

  • Enrolled for at least six credits

  • Represent student ideas, interests, opinions and concerns to Administration, Board, Faculty and Students

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a series of four leadership courses designed for academy members  (9 credits)

  • Serve on and observe campus councils and committees to: Represent student ideas, interests, opinions and concerns to administration, Board, faculty and students Inform students of college policies, programs and services

  • Serve on committee to allocate funds to student organizations for their activities

  • Serve on and/or observe community boards and committees

  • Participate in community service programs which will instill and inspire a positive sense of service and leadership

Time Commitment

  • 64 or more hours per semester

Educational Expense Award

  • $975 for each of four semesters

  • $340 for one summer semester
