NOTES:
1. This transfer guide represents an Articulation (partnership) Agreement
between Lansing Community College (LCC) and Central Michigan University
CMU). This agreement facilitates the transfer of up to 79 credits from LCC
to the CMU Bachelor of Science in Education, Elementary Education Emphasis
program. Note that students are required to complete a minimum of 60 credits
at CMU toward their degree. This articulated agreement does not have a
specified expiration date.
2. Admissions to the CMU College of Education is a two-step process: students
must first apply for admission to CMU, and then apply for admission to the
Teacher Education Program.
3. A program that facilitates early admission into Teacher Education at CMU
is available. Visit LCC Teacher Preparation for additional information.
4. Requirements for Admission to Teacher Education at CMU:
a. Minimum GPA of 2.70 or higher calculated at the time of admission;
b. Completions of EDUC 201 with a minimum grade of 3.0;
c. Completion of WRIT 121/122 with a minimum grade of 2.70;
d. Completion of both MATH and SPCH courses with minimum grade of 2.0;
e. Passing scores of all three sections (Reading-Math-Writing) of the MI
Basic Skills Test (#96). Recommended prior to transfer and required by the
Michigan Department of Education. Registration at www.mttc.nesinc.com.
Fee for this commercial test. Request that scores be sent to CMU.
5. ARTS 240 will transfer as CMU's ART 345 if EDUC 201 and 220 are taken prior
to taking ARTS 240.
6. To earn credit for BIO 101/PHS 101/PHY 127 at CMU, students must complete
both ISCI 121 and 122. This course combination is the best option for an
integrated science minor.
7. Students may waive EDUC 220 by completing 45 hours of pre-professional
experience according to guidelines established by the CMU Department of
Teacher Education and Professional Development. The 45 hours Pre-Professional
Observation Form is available on the CMU website at
http://www.ehs.cmich.edu/css/Admission/formstblofcontents.htm.
8. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements. See the LCC online catalog for details.
9. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
