LANSING COMMUNITY COLLEGE
TRANSFER GUIDE
Curriculum: Photography, Brooks Institute of Photography
Curriculum Code: 0648
This transfer guide supports the Articulation (partnership) Agreement between
Lansing Community College (LCC) and Brooks Institute of Photography (BIP),
which facilitate the transfer of students graduating from LCC into the ninth
session of the Bachelor of Arts Degree-Program in Photography at BIP. This
articulated agreement does not have a specified expiration date.
The conditions and stipulations of the agreement are listed below.
1. Students must graduate from the Lansing Community College photography
program with an associate degree in photography (Photographic Imaging).
2. The student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
3. Student must present an acceptable portfolio.
4. Lansing Community College students must have proven competency and
knowledge of the 4x5 view camera. This competency will be judged via
review of their college transcript of courses successfully completed
and a portfolio review of their 4x5 camera images.
5. Since most students will be lacking some of the general education and
business curriculum requirements, interested applicants are encouraged
to take appropriate courses at Lansing Community College or another
accredited educational institution before arriving.
6. Students following this LCC/Brooks Institute Articulation Agreement
will start in the Upper Division unless they choose to take classes in
the Lower Division that cover material they have not previously studied.
7. Although BIP will transfer credits from the science class taken to
fulfill the associate degree, it is strongly recommended that the choice
of this science class include one that teaches the physics of light and
optics (PHYS 222).
8. LCC students who have taken course work applicable to Upper Division
courses at BIP will have a Brooks Institute of Photography faculty member
determine the applicability of those courses to the BIP major require-
ments. However, it is expected that all incoming students from LCC will
spend a minimum of 10 (eight week) sessions in residence at BIP as full-
time enrolled students. The courses taken in residence must include those
that meet the major requirements, and other general education and business
classes to meet the graduation requirements.
9. Students wishing to graduate as a BIP Digital Media major, a course of
study that encompasses still photography, film and video, and digital
imaging, may have to extend their stay up to two sessions to meet
graduation requirements.
10. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements. See the LCC Catalog online for details.
