NOTES:

1.  This transfer guide supports an Articulation (partnership) Agreement 
    between Lansing Community College (LCC) and Eastern Michigan University (EMU)
    which facilitates the transfer of up to 79 credits to EMU'a Bachelor of
    Science in Elementary Education. Courses included on this guide can be
    completed at either the LCC downtown or Livingston Center campus. To 
    facilitate the evaluation of transfer credits, students should include
    a copy of this transfer guide, as well as the EMU version of the articulation 
    agreement available online at http://www.emich.edu/ccr/artguide_new.htm.  
    Transfer students must also bring a copy of the articulation agreement with
    them to any meetings with EMU academic advisors.
    Students should attend an EMU Elementary Education group advising session 
    prior to completing an admission application to EMU. Group advising schedule 
    is at http://www.emich.edu/coe/students/undergraduate/advising/index.html. 
2.  Eastern Michigan University (EMU) honors the MACRAO Transfer Agreement. 
    Students whose transcripts are endorsed as "MACRAO Satisfied" will only be 
    required to meet three EMU general education requirements. The following 
    requirements may be completed at the most appropriate time for the student, 
    whether before or after enrollment at EMU:
    a. an approved course in Quantitative Reasoning: MATH 202 at LCC or MATH 110E
       at EMU
    b. an approved course in Perspectives on a Diverse World: GEOG 220 at LCC or
       GEOG 110 at EMU.
    c. an approved Learning Beyond the Classroom course/experience at EMU:
       EDUC 492 at EMU.
    To use MACRAO, students should request a MACRAO evaluation of their tran-
    script from the LCC Academic Advising Center. Students who do not satisfy 
    MACRAO are required to complete the EMU General Education Requirements. 
3.  Only courses with a grade of 2.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) will be accepted
    in transfer to EMU.
4.  Completion of this transfer guide satisfies: 1) MACRAO Transfer Agreement;
    2) Associate of Arts in Elementary Education/General Associate degree at LCC; 
    and 3) Structure of Disciplines minor at EMU.  
5.  A minimum of 60 semester hours must be completed at the four-year institu-
    tional level. At least 9 hours in the major and 6 hours in the minor at the
    300-level or higher must be completed at EMU.  At least 10 hours of the last
    30 semester hours prior to graduation must be completed in courses offered
    by EMU.  A minimum of 124 credits hours, completed in-resident or accept in
    transfer, is required for graduation.

    minor requirements is available online at

7.  Students with a community college grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher,
    who have completed at least 56 transferable credits, and have passed the 
    Basic Skills Test may apply to the Teacher Preparation Program.  Students who
    do not meet these requirements must complete at least 12 credits at EMU to 
    establish an EMU GPA of 2.5 and a GPA of 2.5 in the major.  Other admission 
    criteria include: satisfactory health status, satisfactory social and 
    emotional adjustment, submission of an autobiography, and freedom from any 
    kind of probation.  Students must also meet all other admission requirements
    at the time of admissions to EMU, including submitting transcripts from all
    previously attended colleges and universities.
8.  If available, courses designated by this note may be completed during the
    first semester at the EMU-Brighton (Livingston County) campus in order to 
    establish 12 credits with a GPA of 2.5 as required for admission to the 
    Elementary Education Program.
9.  EDUC 220 - Students with appropriate documentation will receive credit for 
    pre-student teaching field experience.
10. Integrated Science major/minor: Select one additional course: (for major) 
    BIOL 229,265; CHEM 125,130,135,151&161; GEOL 221,222; PHYS 120; (for minor)
    BIOL 260. 
11. Language Arts major/minor recommended for grades 4-6 and middle school.
12. Mathematics major/minor: Select no more than two courses from: MATH 130,260;
    STAT 215.   
13. Non science majors may substitute ISCI 122 for ESSC 202 and CHEM 101 at EMU.  
    Integrated Science Majors must take ESSC 202 or its equivalent.
14. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill additional graduation
    requirements.  See the LCC online catalog for details. 
15. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and 
    writing.  To determine accurate course placement, students should take the 
    Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
