NOTES:
1. This transfer guide supports an Articulation (partnership) Agreement between
Lansing Community College (LCC) and Eastern Michigan University (EMU), which
facilitates the transfer of LCC credits toward completion of a Bachelor of
Science in Technology Management. This guide includes courses from an LCC
approved technical program (see Note 3), allowing students to simultaneously
earn an LCC Associate Degree while preparing to transfer to EMU. This
agreement is in effect until April 30, 2013.
2. See the MACRAO Transfer Agreement for appropriate LCC courses. Only courses
in which at least a 2.0 is received will be applied to MACRAO by LCC and
accepted for transfer to EMU.
3. In completing this coordinated program of study, course substitutions should
be made with the guidance of the EMU and LCC Program Advisors to assure that
all graduation requirements are satisfied at both institutions. Approved LCC
programs are: Alternative Energy Technology; Architectural Technology;
Automotive Technology; Aviation Maintenance; Chemical Technology; Chemical
Process Technology; Civil Technology; Collision Repair; Computer Graphics;
Computer Information Technology; Computer Numerical Control; Criminal
Justice; Diagnostic Medical Sonography; Digital Media, Audio & Cinema;
Electrical Technology; Emergency Medical Services; Environmental Technology;
Fire Science Technology; Graphic Design; Geographic Information Systems;
Heat & AC/Building Maintenance; Heavy Equipment Repair Technology; Histologic
Technology; Manufacturing Engineering Technology; Media Technology; Molecular
Biotechnology; Nursing; Photographic Imaging Technologies; Radiologic
Technology; Residential Building; Surgical Technology; Veterinary
Biotechnology; Welding Technology; and other programs approved by the Program
Coordinator.
4. Student's transcripts endorsed as "MACRAO Satisfied" by LCC will be required
to meet the three EMU general education requirements listed below. These
requirements may be completed before or after admission to EMU:
a. an approved course in Quantitative Reasoning [MATH 130 at LCC];
b. an approved course in global Awareness or US Diversity [met by CHOICE 1];
c. an approved Learning Beyond the Classroom course or experience [fulfilled
at EMU only].
To use MACRAO, the student must request a MACRAO evaluation of their tran-
script by the LCC Registrar's Office. Students who do not satisfy MACRAO
will have to complete the EMU General Education Requirements.
5. Under this agreement, EMU will waive the 60-hour rule and require that a
minimum of 30 credit hours must be completed at EMU, 15 hours of which must
be in program requirements at the 300-level or above. A minimum of 124 credit
hours, completed in-resident or accepted in transfer, is required for
graduation from EMU.
6. Students are encouraged to contact the Technology Management Program
Coordinator (see below) early, before applying to EMU. To facilitate the
evaluation of transfer credit, students should indicate they are using this
articulation agreement on their EMU admission application, and bring a copy
to all advising session. Copies of the articulation guide are also available
on the EMU's website at http://www.emich.edu/ccr/artguide.htm.
7. Students must meet all admission requirements at the time of admission to
EMU, including submitting transcripts from all previously attended colleges.
8. Students may substitute WRIT 131 and WRIT 132 or ENGL 122 for WRIT 121 & 122.
9. To meet the 8 credits of Humanities, select one course from the following:
ENGL 211,212,260; HUMS 214; HIST 150,214,240,260; MUSC 240,241; PHIL 211,212;
RELG 211,212,250 (course selections meet EMU's "Perspectives on a Diverse
World" requirement): AND a second course from a different discipline listed
under the approved LCC MACRAO options (see Note 2).
10. Select one course from POLS 120,121; PSYC 200; or SOCL 120.
11. Thirty to forty-six credits in technical courses from an approved LCC program
or discipline may be transferred as a block for the technical concentration.
If the program has less than 30 technical credits, related technical courses
may be taken at either institution.
12. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements. See the LCC online catalog for details.
13. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
