LANSING COMMUNITY COLLEGE
                                  TRANSFER GUIDE

Curriculum: Nursing RN-BSN, Saginaw Valley State University
Curriculum Code: 1616

NOTES:
1. This transfer guide represents an Articulation (partnership) Agreement
between Lansing Community College (LCC) and Saginaw Valley State University
(SVSU), which is designed to facilitate the transition of graduates from the
LCC Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing (0222) to the SVSU
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. This articulated agreement does
not have a specific expiration date.
2. The provisions of this agreement pertain only to RN students beginning the
RN-to-BSN/MSN program at SVSU. If the student changes their major to another
another program, the student's transfer credits will be re-evaluated in the
    usual course-to-course manner.
3. Articulation students must apply for admissions to both SVSU and the RN-BSN/
MSN program. This agreement does not guarantee acceptance.
4. Transfer students are required to meet the SVSU Basic Skills and General
Education requirements as stated in the SVSU catalog in place at the time
the student first enrolls in SVSU.
5. SVSU will validate and record up to 32 semester hours of nursing knowledge,
as indicated in the articulation agreement, to LCC RN-Nursing graduates who
    meet the following criteria:
    a) Gradated with GPA of 2.5 or better (provide official transcripts);
    b) Current Michigan license to practice as an R.N.;
    c) Approved plan of study, which includes goals and individualized plan for
program completion. Transfer credit will be considered in this process.
    d) Successful completion of SVSU-NURS 301 including the professional resume.
Students who have not yet passed the NCLEX-RN test for licensure as an R.N.
may be able to enroll in only the NURS 301 course, provided they agree to
meet special conditions/deadlines agreed upon in consultation with the SVSU
    Nursing Department.
6. Students who have an RN license at the time of their transfer application
are advised to meet with both the SVSU Office of Admissions and the RN to
BSN Coordinator (see contact information below).
7. The SVSU nursing department offers pre-nursing informational sessions each
semester. Session dates are typically posted on the department website (see
below) at the beginning of each semester. Any student, whether applied or
admitted to SVSU or not, are welcome to attend.
8. SVSU's nursing faculty also offer walk-in nursing advising in addition to
the pre-nursing informational session. Students will be best served if they
do the following before meeting with a nursing faculty advisor:
    A) review the FAQ page on the nursing website
    B) attend a pre-nursing open informational session, and
    C) schedule an appointment with the SVSU Office of Admission to obtain at
least an unofficial transcript evaluation which will then be available
when meeting with a nursing faculty advisor during walk-in hours.
9. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements. See the LCC Online Catalog for details.
10. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing.  To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration.  For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
