NOTES:
1. This transfer guide represents an Articulation (partnership) Agreement
between Lansing Community College (LCC) and Saginaw Valley State University
(SVSU). This agreement is designed to facilitate the transition of students
from LCC to the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a major in Elementary
Education at SVSU. This articulated agreement does not have a specific
expiration date.
2. LCC transfer students seeking admission to SVSU College of Education (COE) may
transfer up to the standard maximum of 62 credits to SVSU in initial transfer.
Up to 8 additional credit hours may be awarded in transfer upon acceptance to
the SVSU College of Education's Teacher Education Program in Elementary
Education. This opportunity is available with or without an associate degree.
3. Elementary Education is a limited-enrollment program at SVSU. This agreement
does not guarantee acceptance into SVSU or SVSU College of Education.
Articulation students must apply for admission.
4. Requirements at SVSU are as stated in the SVSU catalog in effect when the
student first enrolls at SVSU.
5. The following requirements must be successfully completed prior to submitting
an application to the Teacher Education Program:
a) All University Basic Skills requirements in mathematics, reading & writing.
b) Minimum 2.75 grade point average based on the last 60 credit hours of
university-level (credit earning) coursework. Cumulative grade point
averages are not considered.
c) Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Basic Skills Test with
subareas in Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Scores must be submitted to
SVSU electronically; select institution code #24 when registering to take
the test to ensure that SVSU receives the scores. Consult the MTTC website
for details.
d) A minimum of 72 credit hours completed with a grade of 2.0 or better.
e) PSYC 200 with a grade of 2.0 or better.
f) EDUC 201 with a grade of 2.0 or better.
g) Attendance at a Pre-Education Seminar; required for elementary-level
candidates; highly recommended for secondary-level candidates. Students
do not have to be admitted to SVSU to attend one of these free and
informative seminars.
6. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill specific graduation
requirements. See the LCC Online Catalog for details.
