Regional Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is a national rigorous standards-based science competition with yearly rotating events, always representing the various components of STEM education. Teams of up to 15 students compete in events testing knowledge in areas as wide-ranging as insect identification to Laser shoots, and from bridge building to Mag-Lev vehicle construction. Scores are accumulated in all events with the top teams moving on to state level competition.

Description
Want to build your own robot? This hands-on class will teach students how to build, program, and test their device using real-life robotics technology. Students will use computer science, technology, and engineering with this hands-on VEX IQ platform. Description
Have fun in this “maker’s class” where you design and build spinning gadgets to take home! We will use spare parts and reclaimed material to make our gadgets. Enroll with a friend and continue creating gadgets together all summer. Students will learn the science and math associated with kinetic energy, torque, force and motion. All materials supplied.

Description
What causes hurricanes, tornados, droughts, and blizzards? Students will explore extreme weather in this interactive class. They will learn what causes basic weather and how extreme weather forms. Students will select and explore one type of extreme weather to create a unique presentation. They will then share their project and knowledge of weather phenomena including solutions to problems, safety procedures, or ways to better predict extreme weather events with the class.
